  • requries two pawns to operate

  • allows fishing (but inefficient for it)

FAQ 1. Are there any hard incompatibilities?
Everything, that works with Boats, should work fine with this mod. Anything, that breaks Boats, will potentially break this mod.

2. Can this mod break ongoing games?
This mod is based on xml framework provided by Boats. Each large update of the framework can bork ongoing games until this mod catches up with the changes. I strongly recommend to have both Boats and this mod copied and used from local mod folder.

3. Can this mod be added/removed from existing games?
You can safely add this mod to ongoing games (Tribals will need to research Canoe though). Removing is not recommended but should be possible after each and every boat from this mod is destroyed.

4. Will we see more boats in future?
Maybe. I have started to work on this mod just for one ship (Sloop) as I was dissatisfied with a big jump in stats between Fishing Boat and Caravel. Then a few people proposed to create canoes as tribal specific boats, and I did find a niche place for them. Should there be some new role for boats that is not covered and does not break balance too much then I may take a look at it.


  • Ideas for this mod:- A gun-boat with quite a heavy armament because it’d have quite limited use (apart from if you live right next to a river and can funnel the enemy to always run past the river). It’d be very cool if you could utilise already existing weapons (more specifically, the attacks) into the boats; like if you could have a dual mini-gun turret, a reloadable rocket launcher, an autocannon, and a mortar for example.- A heavy and slow ‘monitor’ style of ship, that’s incredibly expensive and requires a lot of crew (so definitely late game), but has access to a couple of heavy artillery pieces that can fire across quite a number of map tiles much like the artillery added by one of the ‘vanilla expanded’ mods-Perhaps most importantly; a modular system that allows you to add different kinds of weapons in whatever configuration you like
  • tbh these suggestions are not exactly appropriate here considering the niche scope of this submod. That said, all these things are more or less already in development for the main ships mod but it will come out when it comes out as all ships development has been delayed since the virus stuff has got people occupied IRL.
  • Can you make it compatible with expanded woodworking? Because right now I cannot use the new types of wood. I think it is done by making the boat cost ‘woody’ or something like that.   • the icon appear for the action when fishing canoe is drafted? If not then check if main Boats mod properly loads fishing settings.That sounds like there is a mod conflict between main boats mod and something else.sliders/settings as this is purely xml mod. However I agree that demand is reasonable. I have adjusted the carry capasity in new update.For canoe: 35 kg -> 1.3 x 35 = 45.5 kgFor fishing canoe: 52.5 kg -> 2 x 35 = 70 kg.

  • Hmm, to get cargo space i’d have to edit it myself then huh. so really the standard canoe has no actual cargo space, and the fishing one has 17kg of cargo space?I feel like canoe itself having 5-10kg of cargo hold aside from that a pawn can carry on them would not be OP, and be much lower than what a real life wooden single person canoe can actually hold in terms of weight.Would you be open to adjusting that? or adding a setting so players can adjust it themselves(within a reasonable range). Maybe a variable based on what it’s made of?
